"ONE WAY OR ANOTHER" Artshow

in association with:

We’ve teamed up with Society6.com and Club Mumble.com to curate our second artshow in support of Contributor. Building on the success of last year's group show, “One Way Or Another” plays upon the personal nature of a skateboard. Combining an open call at Society6 and a group of specially invited guests (curated by Annie Lam , Mike Giles, Bob Kronbauer, Sandro Grison, Andy Jenkins and Justin Cooper) we have selected over 50 artists/collectives from around the world to create original artwork on full-sized blank maple skateboards. These specially made boards that will be sold below (see "online shop"), with all proceeds going directly back to getting skateboards to kids across Canada. What makes this project unique is that rather than people buying a previously finished piece of artwork, their purchase will commission an artist/studio to make a board especially for them, so when it arrives it's an awesome surprise – kind of like a familiar chocolate with a hidden tasty center!

Color Magazine Roadtrip:

As a satellite project and functioning under the same name, Isaac McKay-Randozzi and Sandro Grison, along with their gang of creative collaborators, toured North America in a grassroots campaign to show off the incredible artwork created by some of skateboarding's best while raising awareness for the July 2010 launch of our One Way or Another project's online shop.

Presented by Color Magazine, the traveling exhibition kicked off with a show at L.A.'s Heavyweight Gallery, featuring works by Todd Bratrud, Andrew Pommier, Geoff McFetridge, Greg ‘PNut’ Galinsky and a dozen more. "Each artist involved is donating their valuable time, skill and resources to inspire the next generation of creators," says McKay-Randozzi.

After the L.A. event on 29 May 2010, the one-night-only show headed to Escapist skate shop in Kansas City, MO on 4 June 2010, and finished up at the No Comply skate shop in Austin, TX on 7 June 2010.
